I’m Scott Kipp and you can read my BIO below. You can look at me many different ways, so it’s hard to tell who I am. In 2016, I was a married engineer who traveled a lot. In 2017, I was a widow suffering grief. In 2018, I moved in with my new girlfriend Amy, retired from engineering and started traveling. In 2019, I traveled the whole year with my girlfriend Amy. In 2020, I settled into an apartment with Amy when Covid hit. In 2021, I’m a film maker and building on my property in Lone Pine. What will happen next?

Scott G. Kipp lives in Santa Barbara and Lone Pine when he isn’t traveling extensively. Whether backpacking and RVing in the US or traveling abroad, Kipp loves the excitement of the road.
Kipp grew up in Overland Park, Kansas and went to Catholic grade school and high school. After a couple years at Kansas State University, he moved to California to get residency. He spent the summer of 1986 in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park and backpacked extensively. He also worked in Death Valley, Heavenly Valley and Harvey’s Casino before attending Cal Poly SLO. He got his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering with a focus on fiber optics. To put himself through college, he did two internships and worked on the most powerful laser in the world at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He was an international exchange student at Kingston Polytechnic in London and spent the summer of 1990 cooking and picking grapes in Greece.
His got hired as a rotating engineer at Hughes Aircraft in Santa Barbara, in 1993. He resigned after a couple years and took a year off to tour New Zealand and drive Route 66. He moved to Hsinchu, Taiwan to teach English and eventually sold fiber optic cables there. He met and married Grace Tsai and the young couple returned to the US and drove around the US for five months on their honeymoon. Kipp eventually worked for McDATA, Brocade and Broadcom developing engineering standards and traveling extensively. After living in Colorado, Kansas City, Morgan Hill and an RV, they eventually bought a home in Santa Barbara.
Kipp maintains trails as a volunteer for the Los Padres Forest Association and studies Film at Santa Barbara City College. He dreams of making films, documentaries and movies based on his novels.
Tragically, Grace developed pancreatic cancer and passed in 2017. After much sorrow, Phil Sell introduced Kipp to Amy Treff and they quickly fell in love. Kipp retired from engineering and Amy and Scott traveled to Japan, Peru, Columbia and Chile and RVed for several months in the US. They are building a vacation home in the Alabama Hills below Mt. Whitney. Amy is designing the home where they wish to spend many wonderful years.
